LPG-Profiteers LPG prices stable: Hadi
KARACHI, Sep. 3 - Profiteers and black-marketers have been active to take undue advantage of the linking of LPG price to Saudi Aramco Contract Price. This was stated by the chairman of FPCCI Standing Committee on LPG and All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association Abdul Hadi Khan here Friday.
He said the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) are stable in the market despite an increase of Rs 9,360 per ton in its price by a local producer OGDC. He pointed out that the dependency on the imported LPG has been increased after a decline in its local production by 700 to 800 tons per day.
Hadi has thanked other producers including JJVL and marketing companies and producers for not increasing LPG prices despite a rise of $ 55 per ton in its international price in September. The present situation requires that LPG price should remain stable at old price.
He noted that some vested interests and profiteers has started a propaganda of LPG price increase to earn a windfall profit on Eid. Hadi pointed out that LPG is selling in the range of Rs 80 to 82 per kilogram in Karachi, 11.8 kg cylinder at Rs 945 while 45.4 kg cylinder at Rs 3677.
He said retail price of LPG in Punjab is Rs 95 per kg while 11.8 kilo cylinder was selling at Rs 1,121 and 45.4 cylinder is available at Rs 4,313. In Khyber-Pukhtoonkhwa and Swat, LPG is selling at Rs 100 to 105 per kilo, 11.8 kg cylinder at Rs 1,210 and 45.4 kg cylinder at Rs 4,654.
Hadi maintained that OGRA's decision on LPG is in the benefit of consumers and hoped that bonafide distributors will follow its decisions.
